How does breast augmentation surgery work?
Transgender breast augmentation surgery is performed in one to two hours, usually under general anesthesia.
The surgeon will insert either a saline or silicone implant. Your doctor will discuss with you the best type of implant, as well as the best place to insert and position the implant.
During surgery, the breast tissue and skin are lifted, and the implant is then put into position. The incision is closed with sutures.
What happens after the transgender breast augmentation?
After the surgery, you should expect to feel tired and sore for a few days. The surgeon will take precautions in order to minimize scarring, but some scarring is a natural part of surgery. You may have firm, pink scars for a little over a month, but they will begin to fade after several months.
Your doctor will usually prescribe medications to help you with the pain.
Most patients can return to work within one week, and they can begin exercising and other strenuous activities within two weeks.
